This article examines the main indications for the use of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in orthodontics, including dental anomalies, impacted canines, supernumerary teeth, eruption disorders, and external root resorptions. Each use of CBCT must be individually justified to bring diagnostic or treatment benefit, and the prescribing orthodontist must be able to interpret the whole field of view.
